In early 2024, Oil Brokerage launched OBX Data, a new division focused on delivering high-frequency and historical market data across oil and gas markets.
Due to high demand for the product, their data engineering team approached NorthGravity to assist with the curation of historical data and its redistribution to customers onboarded to our infrastructure. This also included preparing for higher-value product offerings where information would require crucial structuring.
NorthGravity provided a full-service data delivery solution that:
Backfills historical data using end-of-day daily report emails dating back to January 2020.
Standardizes multi-commodity datasets (oil, gas, refined products, energy) using NorthGravity’s proprietary data model.
Delivers data to OBX clients via sFTP, APIs, email snapshots, and pre-defined schedules (e.g., daily cutoffs aligned with market hours).
Supports daily processing of thousands of data records, ensuring accuracy and reliability even during peak trading hours.

As a new division, getting our products ready and available through flexible delivery was crucial. NorthGravity allowed us to execute this while working alongside our internal teams. Their industry knowledge and ability to adapt to our specific needs made all the difference.
- OBX Data
NorthGravity’s ability to enhance OBX’s data distribution strategy enabled the business to surpass its projected client acquisition and revenue goals just months after the platform’s launch.
As a result, OBX clients gained access to standardized, high-frequency market data delivered reliably and efficiently through API, sFTP, and custom delivery formats.
This engagement highlights NorthGravity’s role as a strategic data infrastructure partner for the commodity sector. The OBX case demonstrates our ability to rapidly deliver production-ready pipelines tailored to real market conditions, efficiently solve complex high-frequency data transformation challenges, and scale data distribution in collaboration with clients’ internal data and engineering teams.
